Dr. Shubhra Goel was a Fellow in the Oculoplasty, Orbit and Ocular Trauma Service at Sankara Nethralaya , Chennai for 2 years, 2006-2008. She has had a consistently outstanding academic track record which included being awarded the Gold Medal for the best performance in the Diplomate National Board postgraduate examinations among all candidates across India.

Dr. Shubhra worked hard with an extreme degree of sincerity and commitment in her Fellowship training and was judged the Best Outgoing Fellow in her batch. She was exposed to cutting edge Oculoplastics in all its diversity and also to the fine art of eye microsurgery. This hard to beat combination equipped her to the greatest degree to deal with not only the tissues of the eyelid, orbit and adnexa but also to handle the immensely delicate eye tissues, a deep understanding of which is vital for the safe practice of periocular aesthetic surgery and non surgical interventions around the eyes.

Following her Fellowship training she was offered a Consultant position in the Department . Sankara Nethralaya has , over the past decades consistently enjoyed the reputation of being one of India’s best eye hospitals in numerous nationwide surveys and more recently, in 2020 , Newsweek, on the basis of a global healthcare survey, has recognized it as one of the World’s Best Hospitals.

Dr. Shubhra had a keen interest in the emerging field of Oculo-Facial Aesthetics and soon after taking up the Consultant position, received a prestigious International Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to train at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. She returned to Sankara Nethralaya following the training and set up a state of art Oculo - Facial Aesthetic Unit which she headed. Presently, she is a Consultant at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad. In addition to a high volume cutting edge Aesthetic practice involving surgical and non-surgical procedures, she is actively involved in teaching , training and in the propagation of her niche area of expertise including by being on the Faculty at numerous cadaveric courses, workshops , seminars and Continuing Medical Education programs . Her courses at the American Academy of Ophthalmology have been extremely popular and as a result of her contributions to the scientific activities of the Academy , she has been awarded the American Academy of Ophthalmology achievement award. In addition she has received numerous awards in Indian Ophthalmology for her unique scientific contributions and innovations.​

Dr. Shubhra has a tremendous capacity for hard work combined with a unique focus and immense passion for her work.
