What Our Mentors Say
Dr. Goel has fully transitioned from student to mentor to master. In her time under my mentorship in oculoplastic surgery, Dr. Goel was a voracious learner and enthusiastic teacher, eager to pass on whatever she could to our residents and fellows.
Since that time, she has performed thousands of oculoplastic operations, from the common to the esoteric. She has mastered facial cosmetic surgery and trained numerous other surgeons through residency programs, fellowships, and the countless courses she has taught in India and the United States.
Above all, her passion is for her patients and the quality of her work.
It gives me great pleasure to write this testimonial for Dr. Shubhra Goel. I have known Dr. Shubhra Goel for the past 15 years, when she joined us for her clinical fellowship in Orbit, Oculoplasty & Trauma at Sankara Nethralaya in 2005- 2007.
She was disciplined, hard working and meticulous. She was a quick study, had a keen sense of observation and was an excellent surgeon. She was offered the post of consultant after completing her fellowship. She was a wonderful co-worker, team player and teacher. She worked as an associate consultant in the department of Orbit, Oculoplasty, Reconstructive & Aesthetics, Sankara Nethralaya, from the year 2007-2012.
She is one of the very few people from India to complete an International Fellowship in Facial Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009 – 2010.
She was instrumental in setting up the Aesthetic services in Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai after her return from USA. Dr. Shubhra was responsible for organising an extremely successful International conference in Oculoplasty and aesthetics, Chrysalis, in the year 2011.
I am extremely proud of her achievements as she has grown in stature in leaps and bounds since then. With a rare combination of beauty, intelligence, sincerity and perseverance, she is an asset to any venture. She has my highest recommendation.

Asst Clinical Professor Jules Stein Eye Institute UCLA
Los Angeles, CA
I serve on the faculty at Jules Stein Eye Institute in the department of ophthalmology in oculofacial surgery since 1992. Dr. Goel came to visit and work with me as part of her fellowship at University of Wisconsin.
I have worked with her in the operating suite, in academic setting and with patients. She is one of the most intellectually curious physicians I have encountered. Her demeanour with patients is engaging but more importantly deeply caring.
She has become a leader in India and continues to challenge herself academically. I am honoured to be her colleague and her friend.
